MOBILE CONNECTIVITY AND Wi-Fi
- On the trail, teahouses sell pre-paid Wi-Fi cards and at some places you may get a phone signal using a local SIM card
- Wi-Fi cost at teahouse varies from place to place.
- You can buy a local SIM card in Thamel ,Kathmandu or in airport. You will need a passport size photograph and your passport to get the SIM.
- There are two main companies to choose from: Nepal Telecom and NCell.
- In Everest region, NCell works better.
CURRENCY
- You can convert your currency to NPR from banks or through money exchanger.
- ·Most of the money exchangers are in Thamel.
- It is highly advisable to convert some of your currency for using during your stay in Nepal and during the trek.
- Credit/Debit cards- Please check with your respective banks whether you can use it in Nepal or not.
- Towns on the trail don’t have ATM machines and teahouses rarely accept credit card
VISA INFORMATION
In order to enter Nepal you will need to obtain a tourist visa. Most people get a visa on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.( Please check the recent restrictions because of Coronavirus)

RESPONSIBE TREKKING AND CULTURAL CONSIDERATONS
- The most important rule of backpacking conservation is Leave No Trace. Learn it and live it.
- Don’t buy bottled water in teahouses. The extra cost and waste are not worth it. Instead, use treatment pills, a water filter, or a UV sterilizer.Or you can buy Lifestraw bottle
- Don’t litter.
- Always walk to the left of religious monuments such as mani walls, chortens, and prayer wheels. Always spin the prayer wheel clockwise.
- Follow the rules when visiting temples
- Before taking a photo of people please always ask for the permission. Most people won’t mind, but if they decline, respect their wishe
MONEY
- It is good to carry cash on the trail.
- You may want to buy small gifts, replace broken equipment.
- Consider the cost of WI-Fi cards, hot water, charging the your electronic equipments and sometimes for hot shower.
Lukla Flights
- anthali airport is 130km for Kathmandu and it takes 5hr to reach there. During the peack season Lukla flights operate from Manthali airport
- Fares for Internal flights (Kathmandu/Ramechhap – to Lukla) different for SAARC nationals and foreign nationals.
- Weather plays a very big role in the running of this trek. Flights to Lukla are a fair-weather friend. A cloud covering a mountain ridge can shut down the entire airport! Hence, we suggest keeping a day or two in Kathmandu as a buffer for your return international flight.
Helicopter option to reach Lukla from Kathmandu
The Kathmandu to Lukla Helicopter flight is an easy way to reach Lukla from Kathmandu.It takes only 45-minutes to complete this distance from a helicopter. Standing at an altitude of 2,860 meters
Likewise, Kathmandu to Lukla Helicopter flight is one of the quickest ways to get to Lukla. It is comfortable, and you’ll also get the best mountain views throughout the ride.
Moreover, the Kathmandu Lukla direct flight is not available in the peak seasons. So, the travelers have to take 5 hours drive to Ramechhap, Manthali Airport, to take a flight to Lukla. Thus, the trekkers can charter helicopter flights to Lukla to save the extra time required to reach Ramechhap overland.
