A scenic drive takes you from Manali to Jobra, passing through pine forests and small villages. The trek starts through a lush trail along the Rani Nallah river. It’s a short, gradual ascent through deodar and oak forests, leading to the Chika campsite, a beautiful meadow surrounded by mountains. Set up camp and relax by the river.
The trail today follows the river, moving through boulder-strewn paths and meadows. You’ll cross small streams and trek through a mix of green meadows and rocky terrain. The campsite at Balu Ka Ghera offers a picturesque setting with snow-capped peaks in the distance. It’s an open area that provides excellent opportunities for star-gazing.
This is the most challenging day of the trek. The ascent to Hampta Pass is steep, with rocky and snowy patches. As you climb higher, you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of glaciers and surrounding peaks. Upon reaching Hampta Pass, you’ll witness the contrasting landscapes of the green Kullu Valley and the arid Spiti Valley. After taking a break at the pass, begin the steep descent to Shea Goru, where you’ll set up camp alongside a river in the stark Spiti landscape.
The trek today involves a gradual descent into the Spiti Valley. The trail passes through rocky terrain and multiple river crossings, showcasing the rugged beauty of the region. As you approach Chatru, the landscape becomes more barren, characteristic of the high-altitude desert. The campsite at Chatru is set against a backdrop of cliffs and the river.
Depending on road and weather conditions, you can opt for a visit to Chandratal Lake. The drive to this high-altitude lake is an adventure, passing through rugged roads and offering views of the surrounding mountains. After a brief stop at Chandratal, continue the drive back to Manali via Rohtang Pass, witnessing the changing landscapes from desert to lush greenery.
Chatru To Manali :Â Drive 4-5hrs
Visit Chandratal and then return to Manali. 9-10 hour drive.
We will arrange the taxis for both the options but the taxi fare will be shared among the trekkers.

The Hampta Pass trek is rated as a moderate trek. It involves steep ascents and descents, river crossings, and trekking through varied terrain. While prior trekking experience is helpful, beginners with good fitness levels can also attempt it with proper preparation.
The best time for the Hampta Pass trek is June to October. During this period, the weather is favorable, and the trail is accessible. You’ll see lush green landscapes in June-July, and by September-October, the autumn colors and clear skies offer stunning views.
The highest point on the trek is Hampta Pass, which is at an elevation of 4,270 meters (14,009 feet).
The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Expect cool temperatures during the day (10-15°C) and cold temperatures at night (dropping to -5°C). Rain is also common, so waterproof gear is essential. Snowfall is possible at higher altitudes, especially near Hampta Pass.
Yes, depending on road and weather conditions, there is an optional visit to Chandratal Lake (4,250 m) on the last day. This high-altitude lake offers stunning views, but it requires a detour from Chatru and may not be accessible in case of bad weather or road conditions..
We provide nutritious vegetarian meals during the trek, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and hot beverages. Meals are prepared to offer energy and comfort, especially at high altitudes. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions in advance.
Absolutely! We welcome solo travelers and ensure they are well-integrated into the group. Our experienced trek leaders and support team provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Most of the tea houses on the trek have WIFI facility. But you have to pay for using the WIFI facility. The speed is not so good. It is good enough to send WhatsApp messages.
You will get the cell coverage in Everest Base Camp Trek. The service will not be available in all the areas, you will get the network at different areas throughout the Everest Base Camp trek. NCell and Nepal Telecom works best in Everest region.
You won’t see the Everest summit from the base camp .Some of the best viewpoints are Everest View Hotel, Kala Patthar.
Weather plays a very big role in the running of this trek. Flights to Lukla are a fair-weather friend. A cloud covering a mountain ridge can shut down the entire airport! Hence, we suggest keeping a buffer day.The buffer day can be handy in case the weather goes bad during the trek or the team needs an extra rest day.
Bottled water can be purchased at most tea houses and shops along the route. Because of the altitude, it is recommended you drink in the region of 3-4 litres per day, although this can include tea and soup. We recommend using Lifestraw bottle. It will save you a lot of money because the higher you go the higher the prices for the bottled water.
Most the tea houses on the Everest base Camp trek have charging facility. But you have to pay to avail this facility.
Yes, there is a facility to keep your extra luggage at Kathmandu. You keep it at the hotel where you will be staying.
