Loaded Hiking & Strength Training
Introduce loaded hikes (10–15 kg) on hilly terrain. Add gym sessions targeting glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core — squats, lunges, step-ups, and deadlifts. If you don't have access to hills, focus more on strength and conditioning.
Altitude Simulation & Multi-Day Endurance
Complete back-to-back long hikes (6–8 hrs each day) to simulate consecutive trekking days. If accessible, train at elevation. Practice early morning starts to mimic the Thorong La summit push. Increase pack weight to 12–15 kg.
Taper, Gear Test & Recovery
Reduce intensity while maintaining movement frequency. Test every piece of gear — especially boots and poles — on trail. Focus on sleep quality, hydration, and nutrition. Consult your doctor about Diamox if considering altitude medication.
